EUROfusion’s highest decision-making body, the General Assembly (GA), convened at Athens from 16th to 17th December 2019. One crucial point on the agenda was selecting the EUROfusion Programme Manager. And, the GA has unanimously decided to ask Tony Donné to serve a third term for at least two years until December 2022 as Programme Manager (CEO) of EUROfusion.
“I am happy that the GA has placed their confidence in me and I have been asked to continue in the role,“ said Tony. “The year ahead is crucial as we prepare to step into Framework Programme 9,“ he added. In his previous term Tony oversaw the creation of the updated Roadmap which forms the basis for the programmes of EUROfusion and provides a clear and structured way forward to commercial electricity from fusion. The Roadmap is underpinned by the end-of-the-year statement that Tony has made in the December 2019 issue of Fusion In Europe: “EUROfusion is a big leap forward in making fusion research in Europe more focused and goal-oriented.“
“I am excited to see what the next years hold for the fusion community, and I look forward to meeting the challenges by taking concrete steps going forward,“ he added.
