n, number density

The number of plasma particles in a unit volume (not to be confused with density which is mass per unit volume). One of the three Lawson Criteria, along with confinement time and temperature. The number density typically used in JET is one millionth of atmospheric density – the low value is required to prevent large losses of energy due to bremsstrahlung.
