Fusion research is a European wide co-ordinated programme. Hence the Communications Officers of the fusion laboratories across Europe co-operate as well and build the ‘FuseCOM’ Network on European fusion research. The network is led by EUROfusion’s Head of the Communications office.

Working together but being spread across Europe bears particular challenges for the personnel involved. Regular video conferences and newsletters as well as a blog help to compensate for just one annual meeting in person.

Being committed to communicate the benefits of a promising energy source and the progress of ITER – the next fusion experiment – the members of the network keep each other informed, discuss communication matters, organise mutual presentations at conferences or festivals.

Central topics such as how and what to communicate are priority subjects of the FuseCOM Board. The Board meet regularly and report to the network at the annual meeting. All efforts in the communication area are published each summer in an internal Activity Report.
