IPP Summer University for Plasma Physics and Fusion Research

IPP Summer University for Plasma Physics and Fusion Research

The IPP Summer University covers the main aspects of plasma physics with emphasis on nuclear fusion.
The lectures are designed for physics and engineering students who passed their bachelor courses or master students that have not yet decided their PhD topic.

Dates: 11 September, 2017 to 15 September, 2017

Venue: Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) Garching near Munich – Germany.

Organizing Institution: Max-Planck Insitute for Plasma Physics (IPP), Garching near Munich, Germany.

The Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) yearly organizes a Summer University on the main aspects of plasma physics with emphasis on nuclear fusion. This year the Summer University is hosted again in the IPP research center of Garching, near Munich – Germany. The lectures are designed for physics and engineering students who passed their bachelor courses or just started their PhD. The topics covered in the lectures are:

  • basics of plasma physics
  • concepts and experimental results of tokamak and stellarator configurations
  • ITER and the next steps towards a reactor
  • plasma wall interaction and material research
  • safety and environmental aspects of fusion
  • astrophysical plasmas
