The Slovenian Fusion Association, SFA, coordinates fusion research in Slovenia. It is led by its largest member Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI ) and comprises eight other laboratories, and three faculties of the University of Ljubljana: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Faculty of Mathematics and Physics.

Some research lines pursued by SFA researchers:

  • Ion beam analytical methods – Linear 2 MV Tandetron Accelerator at JSI with its 4 beam lines is used as the main experimental facility.
  • Advanced high heat flux materials for DEMO divertor – JSI -department for nanostructured materials develops tungsten-based materials reinforced with fibres and/or carbide.
  • Neutron calculations designed to support JET neutron yield calibration.
  • Development of visualisation tools to support integrated modelling.
