We think donuts and fusion go well together. Why? It’s got everything to do with the neat torus shape of the pastry and the donut-shaped plasma chamber of the fusion device known as the tokamak.
If you want to learn more about tokamaks and other fascinating aspects of fusion research, like how fusion devices are literally 10 times hotter than the core of the Sun (the inside of a fusion machine can be more than 100 million degree Celsius!), visit the EUROfusion stand at the 2016 Garching Open Doors event on 22 October from 11 to 18.
If you stop by early, we could talk about fusion over coffee and donuts! So, whet your fusion appetite!

And, here’s our programme for the day.
(**We speak English and German!)
EN
11:00 – 13:00 – Learn about fusion over donuts and coffee and you’ll figure what donuts have in common with fusion machines!
14:00 – 15:30 – How good will you be at operating fusion machines? Find out by competing with other players on “Operation Tokamak”. Winners will take home EUROfusion coffee mugs.
15:30 – 16:30 (1st Slot) 16:30 – 17:30 (2nd Slot) – Have a burning question about fusion? Ask the people who make fusion happen!

EUROfusion will be among the more than 30 institutes and science-related companies that will participate in the Garching Open Doors (Tag der offenen Tür) on October 22, 2016 from 11h to 18h.

EUROfusion’s participation in this science open day event is aimed at raising the profile of EUROfusion within the Garching Forschungszentrum campus and among the local public and of course at showcasing some aspects of fusion science and technology. A range of visitors from students and educators to parents and children are expected to come to this Open Doors event.
