The last tile of the ITER-Like Wall is now in place in the JET torus and the detailed photographic survey has taken place. Now, while the photographs are being studied and checked for any unexpected anomalies, in-vessel services are being removed systematically.

Just before writing this, on Friday afternoon, one of the dome cameras was removed as shown in the photograph above. The Remote Handling ‘Mascot’ is seen holding the camera, ready to place it on a tray for removal from the torus.

A few finishing jobs remain to be done this weekend, followed by the installation of a new diagnostic viewing system in one of the access ports. It is clear that the end of in-vessel work is now very close.
