The Steering Committee of the Association EURATOM-Hellenic Republic, at its meeting on the 29-30 June 2009, elected Prof. K. Hizanidis as Head of Research Unit of the Association.
Professor Kyriakos Hizanidis graduated from the National Technical University of Athens in 1975 specialised in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He received his PhD in thermonuclear plasma physics in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1982. He is currently active in the area of plasma physics and thermonuclear fusion (especially in anomalous transport, plasma turbulence, current drive and heating in tokamaks) and in photonics (especially in nonlinear waves and solitons). He has supervised ten doctorates and PhD candidates as well as numerous M. Sc. theses. Back in 1998, along with Profs. J. L. Vomvoridis and A. Grecos, contributed and participated in the creation of Association EURATOM-Hellenic Republic. He is a national representative of the Hellenic Republic at CCE-FU. He was the Associate Head of the Association in the last two years.
