The conference, whose theme this year was ‘Energy, a source of conflict’, took place in the General Assembly Hall in the headquarters of the United Nations.
Professor Niek Lopes Cardozo, head of the nuclear fusion research at the FOM-Institute for Plasma Physics Rijnhuizen made the opening speech at the conference. He presented a version of the Fusion Road Show, an interactive presentation of issues of energy and fusion which reaches some 2000 Dutch students each year, and then joined the students in the debate.
